Ruby Says Hi

Hi everyone it’s Ruby!

I would just like to say that I miss all my blog buddies – especially my boyfriend Teddy. Rose sends hugs to her Genji. Meanwhile Oliver remains single at Scott’s insistence as he doesn’t want Oliver’s heart broken.

Did you know that we moved house? We now live in Leicester, in England’s East Midlands. We are renovating a house there. As you can see I am helping with the designs. If you want to see what’s happening you can have a look here. Who knows, you might see one of us popping up in a post!

Norty Ruby

Hi evfurrybody it’s Oliver! I have to tell yoo that Ruby has been very norty. Scott had all the windows open today as it was a lovely sunny day owtside. Scott finks a fly came in the window and it made us all crazy…

Oh no! It’s the Meiji period hand painted Noritake porcelain urn! It used to be one of a pair on the mantelpiece.

Ooops. Also the Garrard oak cased art deco mantel clock with the Westminster chime. It landed wif a very large crash.

We are sorry we made a big noise. Scott is glad that he is going antique shopping in the Peak District in a couple of weeks. He has added a couple of fings to his list.

Happy Birthday to ME!

Well hello there! This is Rose. Guess what? Today is my BIRTHDAY! That’s right – I am now two years old and officially a LADY!

See? Don’t I look mature?

This is our new friend Kamrita the Bengal tiger.

You see, in honour of my birthday we have adopted a tiger in Nepal with the World Wildlife Fund.

This is the real Kamrita. She is 9 years old and has two cubs, a boy and a girl. Isn’t she beautiful?

Kamrita lives in the Chitwan National Park in southern Nepal.

I like playing with my new friend.

See? I’m giving her the bunny kick.

Here comes Oliver to help me celebrate! He’s brought a toy mousey!

Umm, I don’t think you’re meant to do that to the bed Oliver.

That’s better.

Easy Like Sunday

Well hello there! This is Rose. Just a relaxing Sunday here. This is one of our new favourite sleeping spots – it’s a stool/storage box in the bathroom! It’s like a little hammock.

I think I look very nice on it.

Here’s Ruby in the study. The lovely quilt she’s on usually has a protective cat rug on it but it’s still out from when Mark was sick last week. He had a cold and is better now.

Oliver is sound asleep on his favourite chair in the bedroom.

Well, he was until the flashy box woke him up.

Ah, that’s better without the flash.

Though he still looks a little drowsy.

And finally, I have changed position and am now on the bed looking gorgeous against the damask.

Naughty Miss Rose

Well hello there this is Rose! Normally it’s Ruby who is naughty, so when Scott saw one of us jump on the kitchen bench he assumed it was her and said “Ruby -No!”. Tee hee!
By the way this isn’t a picture from Scott’s new flashy box, it’s from his new iPad Mini! It has games for cats on it and I LOVE playing with it!

Oh, No.

Rose: Oh, no.

Miss Rose Reports

Well hello there! This is Rose.

You know, I am a little upset that it has taken Scott four months to allow me to post about my adventure but better late than never! Let me tell you about the 2012 GCCF Supreme Show held in Birmingham late last November.

It was a very long day. Scott was up at 4:30 in the morning and we left the house at about 6am. I took over two hours to drive to Birmingham but I was fairly quiet in the back of the car. We had our house guests Pam and Gerald with us for company and support. After the vetting in process they set up my pen and decorated it with these beautiful drapes that Auntie Jane lent us. The Supreme Show is different to other shows: not only is it a national rather than regional show, you are also allowed to decorate the pen. The theme for this show was “Diamonds are Forever” but I just had a regular decorated pen rather than a theme-based one.

The show is enormous and there are large judging rings, hundreds of entrants and many displays and stalls.

Later that morning I was removed from my display pen and taken into the judging ring.

I was placed in a judging pen and when it was my turn the steward presented me to the judge.

The judge looked at me very carefully before making her decision.

I came second in my class! I was very proud to have achieved a placing in the Supreme Show. Scott was also very proud of me.

Scott, Pam and Gerald then spent some time looking at the other exhibits.

Some people had gone to great lengths to decorate their pens according to the theme.

Later all of the cats awarded Best of Variety went into the final Supreme judging. The Best in Show 2012 went to a beautiful Orange Eyed White Persian but Scott didn’t get a picture of her. You can see one here though.

Following my success at the Supreme, as well as being awarded the Championship Title of Premier last year, Scott and I have decided to retire from the show circuit. It was great fun while it lasted though!

Our Speshull Day!

 

Hi evfurrybody it’s Oliver and Ruby! We hope yoo are all well in the Cat Blogosphere. Scott has let us get on the compyooter today cos it’s our speshull day – today Ruby and I turn TWO YEARS OLD! These are our offishal birfday pawtraits. Above yoo can see Ruby on the left and I am on the right.

Here is my individual pawtrait. Scott says I am a very handsome mancat. I still don’t have a gerlfriend though, ‘cos Scott won’t let me. Anyway, two sisfurs is enough women in my life! For my pawtrait I was aiming to look ‘angelic’, which means I am a good boy (and I am a good boy ‘cos Scott says so – he says I am a sweet boy and I am a polite gentleman and I bring mousies and I am a very good bruvfur to my sisfurs).

Here is Ruby’s pawtrait. She said she was going for ‘intense’. That’s her alright!

Ruby also wanted a second pitcher next to the books she has been reading. Yoo see, Ruby has been helping Scott read all twelve novels on the Man Booker Prize 2012 longlist. She would like yoo to know that disagrees wif the judges shortlist of the five novels that came out a week or so ago. She prefers the books she is next to in the pitcher, which include The Teleportation Accident, Communion Town and The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry. Those are the books she gave the ‘bitey of approval’ to. She also paid a lot of attention when Scott was reading these books and completely ignored Scott when he read Narcopolis (which made the official shortlist even though Ruby hated it).

Of course, when Rosie saw the camera she just had to get in on the action even thought it’s NOT her birfday! Here she is wif me.

She also insisted on a ‘moody close-up’ for her portfolio cos she says she wants to be a supermodel cat and do advertising work and editorials.

This is as close as Scott got to getting all three of us in the frame at once.

Yoo know, we are very lucky cats cos we have a speshull home and lots of good foods like choona to eat and we have humans who love us. So for our birfday we decided we didn’t need speshull presents.  Instead we have a noo Sponsor Sisfur! Her name is Paige. Paige is a very sweet gerl but she has very speshull needs cos she was in an accident so she is having trouble finding a forever home. She is looked after by the lovely people at Freshfields Animal Rescue in Formby. That is why we have made her our Sponsor Sisfur. Yoo can read more abowt Paige here. We also made a donation of food and toys to the RSPCA in Halewood.

Miss Rose: Premier

Well hello there! This is Rose.

Last Saturday Scott and I went to the 2012 Chester and North Wales Cat Club All Breed Championship Show held in Chester. Once again my nemesis was there – the 4 year old 22 pound (that’s 10 kilograms!) British Shorthair Blue Colourpoint male neuter who has beaten me for Best of Breed at my last two shows. I am only five kilograms so he is twice my size! At my last show one of the judges said my coat was a bit too soft and flat, so this time Scott thought he would do an experiment and NOT brush me before the show. I’m beautiful enough as it is, plus I take care of my own coat pretty well, and any bits of my coat I miss Oliver and Ruby tend to take care of. Also I have stopped moulting for the summer. This would mean my coat would be a little coarser and sticky-uppy, which is a good thing. The technical term is “crisp” or “cracking”, which describes how the coat breaks over the contours of my body. You can sort of see that if you look closely at my picture.

Well! Scott’s not sure if not brushing me had anything to do with it but I can tell you now that not only did I win First in my Breed Class but I also was awarded Best of Breed! Hooray! I finally beat my nemesis!

In my side classes I got two seconds and a first. Most importantly though, I was awarded my third PC – Premier Certificate. This means I have now reached Championship status and have gained the title of Premier! I know!

My next stop is the annual GCCF Supreme Show in Birmingham in late November – wish me luck!
